Specialists of Ukroboronprom's enterprises - the State Joint-Stock Holding Company Artem and the State Research Institute of Chemical Products - successfully conducted the first stage of testing prototypes of a volume-detonating warhead (BC) with a shock core for an unguided RS-80 aircraft missile.

This warhead is equipped with a thermobaric mixture with a negative oxygen balance. During its combustion in the blast zone (the radius is not less 4-5 м) the temperature reaches over 1500about C and there is a sharp drop in pressure - over 2 there is.

Shock wave, which does not move in a straight line, ensures effective destruction of targets, in particular in a closed space. In addition to the main thermobaric charge, the warhead is equipped with a shock core, which makes it possible to hit lightly armored vehicles, walls of buildings and shelters: до 40 mm of homogeneous armor, до 200 mm of reinforced concrete and up to 500 mm bricks.

The results, obtained during tests, open wide opportunities for the use of this warhead not only on unguided ones, but also on controlled means of defeat.
